Salary
The targeted salary may be set as high as $5,725 per month based on experience. The salary range for this classification is $4,372 to $10,478 per month.

Full-time temporary position for three years with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.

Time Base/Hours/Units per Week
Full Time. Monday-Friday, 40 Hours/Week.

Position Description
The Computer Lab and Desktop Support Specialist provides technical support for assigned computer labs in the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics (CNSM) and also provides direct consultative desktop support to students, staff, and faculty in CNSM departments on information technology-based systems primarily in the areas of applications software, multimedia, database resources, and network support, including hardware consultation and support for servers, desktops, laptops, and other devices. In addition, the incumbent assists with administration of the CNSM physical and virtual infrastructure in conjunction with other CSULB units.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Extensive proficiency with multiple computer software applications. Proficient with various operating systems: ie, Windows; Windows Server; DOS, Linux/UNIX; vSphere/ESX; Mac OS; Chrome OS; physical and virtual environments, desktops, and devices; virtual machine. Firm understanding of Active Directory, Group Policy Objects and Security, SCCM, IPv6, VLANs. Ability to think critically and creatively to find effective solutions. Ability to work independently using available resources to create efficient and effective use of equipment to improve the flow of information and reduce bottlenecks. Knowledge and understanding of Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.

Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

Education and Experience
Equivalent to Bachelors of Science, Management Information Systems, or Computer Science and two years of relevant experience. Minimum 2 years experience in student services or a customer services related field preferred.
